Hi TJ,
No, sorry. In the US.
What is homeopathy like in the UK? Do homeopaths need to be MDs? Is it covered by the healthcare system or do you have to pay extra for it?
In the US there is no 'homeopathic' license. Some homeopaths are MDs, some are not, and they've all had different training in homeopathy. It's really unregulated. I've been to naturopathic doctors who have done a little homeopathy, and MDs who practice a little homepathy and a little western medicine, and MDs who have completely turned to homeopathy. The doctor I'm seeing now is like that. She is an MD and practiced western med for a while but became disenchanted with it. She then studied homeopathy and now practices that solely. SHe's very passionate about it, and when I first started seeing her I was suicidal and weeks away from going off all of my meds cold turkey and losing my pdoc -- I was an unstable mess. She not only took my case on, but kept in really close touch with me and gave me a lot of hope that she could help me.
I guess my point is that homeopaths (in the US at least) vary greatly, and there are some horrible ones and some fantastic ones.
I guess the only way to find a good one is word of mouth and luck, unfortunately.
