Depression causes brain cells in the left amygdala and the right forebrain to fire away like mad.Inhibiting PKC seems to help.50% of depressed people have high cortsoil levels. Another group of depressed people have low cortsoil levels. They tend to eat and sleep a lot.Lack of activity in the left forebrain is associated with depression. They may need a diffrent kind of brain chemical. The right amygdala generates panic attacks.Panic attacks are felt in the left ventromedial frontal cortex. The same place where mania is generated.Panic attacks and bi-polar are closely related.PKC seems to be hyperactive in all of it.Big problem in finding out just where it orginates in the brain.Could be a receptor defect.
