Vit D

Posted by teejay on April 5, 2005, at 20:22:04

Hi all,

As some of you may recall, I started on vit d supplementation just before christmas so it was time for an update.

I was diagnosed almost 20 years ago with CFS but of course it carries with it additional baggage, such as depression, a huge decrease in my ability to deal with stress, personality changes due to the way long term illness impacts on ones aspirations and ambitions etc etc, so i'm not under any illusions that a few vitamins alone will suddenly turn me back into who I once was!

I started taking 2 of the 10ug tablets (they are from holland & barrett and dont say if they are D2 or D3 (perhaps someone here knows?)).

I did start to feel better although not a huge difference, it was noticeable. I added in some codliver oil too at one stage but my body never seems to react well to any form of fish oil (years ago I was convinced eating fish made me feel rough, but always passed it off as my over active imagination). I ditched the fish oil and I improved again.

The main improvement has been a huge reduction in that overall wired kind of anxiety which was always with me. It means I now feel more relaxed with everything I do, and as such my self confidence and self esteem have begun to improve a little too. I still have my down spells and they can seem real nasty, but on the whole the good periods seem to be better and last longer and whilst the down times still are nasty, they dont seem to last as long; overall I'd say thats movement in the right direction.

As of a few days ago, I upped the dose to 4 of the 10ug tablets and have added in a little B6, zinc and selenium. I was a heavy smoker so selenium is something I take from time to time when I remember and the zinc and B6 were just there and I dont like chucking stuff away.

So far this extra dosage also seems to be helping, but its as yet early days. I'll keep you guys n gals informed.

Any comments of suggestions of what I might add in to help me along would be most welcome.
