In reply to Fish oil experience--6 grams/day for 2 weeks, posted by Chris O on March 2, 2005, at 18:18:45
> I just wanted to share my experience with Carlson's fish oil. I've been taking 4 teaspoons of their liquid product every day for the past two weeks. Unlike Omegabrite, which I think I was taking at too small a dose, the 6 gram dose definitey had a noticeable effect on me. However, I can't say that it was overall positive. Effects that I noticed:
>
> * Slightly improved sleep. Slept for longer periods of time in general.
> * More vivid dreams and dreams which seem to last longer, or a stronger memory of my dreams.
> * Some improvement in physical anxiety symtoms. I often feel my GAD symptoms as pain in my body, and the fish definitely decreased that. This has been the best, most positive aspect of the fish oil for me.
> * A foggy, cognitively blurred feeling in my head.
> Just felt/feel like I can't concentrate or something is "wrong."
> * Increased anxiety/panic. Oddly, while my physicalized anxiety decreased with the fish oil, my overall sense of, panic, or, "something's wrong," increased.
> * A relatively non-help for my OCD symptoms. In some ways, perhaps increased them because my panic was increased, so I kept trying to figure out "what is wrong, what is wrong."

> If I stop the fish oil, these feelings go away relatively quickly, within a day. On the basis of this experience, I don't think high dose fish oil is the best treatment for my OCD and GAD. The negatives definitely outweigh the positives.

Hi Chris,
I experienced those kinda negatives too just on one capsule a day.
I'm not asking you, but as an idea only, if you try B5 for a few days (say 125mg a day or 250mg a day with the fish oil) I'd love to know if you still experience the negatives or not.
The theory is the B5 is maybe depleted by the additional oils (B5 is especially consumed by fatty acid metabolism , but other B's like B6, B1,B3 I think from memory are too to a lesser extent) and this leads to he increased anxiety being experienced, and probably a bit more fogginess as well.Just wondering if it would help.
Thanks for your update on fish oil.Jan
