Lazy to take the scoop dosage of tryptophan?

Posted by zefdie on January 17, 2005, at 17:51:26

Hey all! I've been using the GP Ultra-Pure tryptophan, filling a 34-oz hiker's water bottle almost to the top with water, throwing exactly one scoop in, and shaking it all up. This method actually dissolves the powder very well with no nasty clumps, and I need the water anyway.

Should I be more measured and specific about the dosage? The near-1200 mg scoop seems to be doing me a lot of good.

Also, does the 10% of the powder that's sugar provide a decent amount for the tryptophan to cross the BBB? I know a lot of you take fruit juice, but I've been trying to save money by drinking only water.

I also take a B-complex with the tryptophan, but I don't know if it's doing me any good since I take it on an empty stomach and I'm under the impression that vitamins don't work so well that way.

And one last thing if anyone's still reading: morning or night? I haven't really noticed any significant sleepiness from the tryptophan (save for the first night)...is it better for the brain to take it at night?

Whew! And here I was only going to ask that one question.
