I remember one or two studies that said kava effected that specific receptor, which I think they said contributed to the sleep inducing / anxiolytic effect. I'd suggest doing a google search on that to obtain the studies I've seen. It's interesting you ask about that receptor and what herbs effect it, since I have had the same curiously for a while. It seems that the studies that show that herbs do effect serotonin aren't specific for receptors. St John's effects 5-Ht2a... that doesn't help though. Rhodiola is said to effect serotonin, but who knows where... too bad they can't start doing more of these specific studies.
