effexor rendered ineffective by supplements??

Posted by ghelipha on May 4, 2004, at 9:53:22

I posted this on the regular board and was advised to bring it here. I've been on Effexor xr for about a year or so with varying degrees of success. About a week and a half ago I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic and my nutritionist put me on a higher protein diet as well as two different kinds of supplements: GlucoBalance and Fish Oil capsules.
This is all well and good EXCEPT that I've been crying ever since. Is it possible something in my supplements could be cancelling out the effexor? The irony is that the fish oil is supposed to be great for one's emotional health. Heh. I called my nutritionist and she suspects I'm experiencing sugar/simple carb withdrawal. I'm not so sure. I went without the supplements for a day or two, started to feel better, tried them again and spiralled into a weepy depression.

Has anyone heard of anything like this?
