One month ago I started low dose lithium (Lithobid 300 mg. at bedtime) for a mood disorder doctors can't seem to identify. I have two questions for the many kind and knowledgeable people on this board.
But first, some background. I have tried all of the SSRIs, Remeron, Depakote, Lamictal, one tricyclic (Nortrip.), and Nimotop (nimodipine). It helps the morning anxiety. Morning sweats and startle response are better. It helps some with sleep; I can make it to 5 am without waking. I have very morning elevated cortisol, but not Cushing's (I've had it tested by a Cushing's expert in LA.)
Question 1: Are there any people that have taken low dose lithobid (or Eskalith or other lithium carbonate analog) for a long-time? If so, what should I watch out for?
Question 2: What can I do to get my morning cortisol down? It's like the adrenals kick in a 5 am, and I have great anxiety.
Thanks so much for the responses. Dannen
