> I have been diagnosed with clinical depression and have spent the past 10 years on each SSRI with limited effectivity. I am now on Effexor which activates both the seratonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors. I am thinking that I wish to increase the supply of seratonin to my brain as well as limit the reuptake of it. I called Wyeth (manufacturer of Effexor) to ask about combination therapy using 5-HTP and they have no research on the subject; however they cautioned me on "Seratonin Syndrome" which can be fatal. Is there anyone who has attempted both 5-HTP and an SSRI or Effexor who has practical advice on the results or symptoms to watch to avoid "Seratonin Syndrome"?
