St John's Wort - An MAOI?

Hello. I apologise if this has already been discussed here. But I was surprised to read that St. John's Wort was an MAOI! I currently take Parnate and MAOI. It's pooping out on me. Would it be safe to add St John's Wort to it?
Anyone know how to augment the effects of an MAOI?
I'm slipping hard and fast into a deep depression. I hope someone can help. I've been on so many meds with no results. I'm bipolar.
