I posted this as new thread by mistake.

Perhaps if others also post about their refresh problems we can figure it out for everyone.

I can't help with the iPad but I found there is an auto refresh setting in the current Windows Firefox (Tools, Options, Advanced, General, Accessibility) "Warn me when site tries to redirect or reload" that causes the same problem when it's checked.

Clicking "Change Room" in chat forces a refresh but of course I kept forgetting to do that and then wondering why nobody was saying anything.

I also had this problem very intermittently when I had lots of browser windows open and downloads running.
