Friends,
It is written here,[...I don't see it...].
What may not be seen is what the great things that came out from this forum are.
You see, the site has the potential for members to explore and find helpful answers to the member's concerns. Let us look at my case as an example, for I came here in hopes to find out what could happen to me and to find a cure for an adverse reaction to a prescribed antidepressant.
After taking the AD for a few days, music started that has never stopped. The company that makes the drug responded to my concerns with articles showing that it has happened to others. So I found that the drug could cause the neurons that tranfer sound to malfunction in such a way to some people to be a cause. This meant to me that there is not a cure as of now.
So without a cure the thought of something worse developing from this led me to find that the situation does not cause a reaction to other brain areas and is not a mental illness. The point here is that without my comming to this site, I would not have found that out. So I am indebted to this site for that. And others could find other things to alleviate concerns of theirs.
I found out that through more ressearch that the music will not cause changes to my perception or reality. It is what it is, it is music 24/7.
The music comes from my memory back to childhood and the song changes. The music is all instrumental, no voices. The volume in my case is amplified to a greatly annoying level so that getting to sleep is a problem. Imagine a CD to be playing, and you can't turn it off, and the music is off-key. Imagine the distraction in relation to communicating with others under these conditions. Imagine how this could effect your thinking in orginization and such. I have had to simplify my life and tasks are difficult to complete due to the annoyance and distraction.
But the good things are that others have emailed me with the same condition and I am not alone. I don't think that I could ever work in a bank, for example, with this condition. I think robbers could sense my condition and I could be easily robbed for I am slowed dramatically due to the distraction of the music. What I am wanting to do is to help others overcome this type of situation by letting them know that the liturature says that it is not a mental illness, nor will it cause disease or such.
I think that there is the potential for some people to ponder suicde when this condition arises so this site has allowed me to reach people to comfort them to let them know that it is not a mental illness nor will it cause a disease. I have had had email with many people around the world in regards to them finding me here concerning what is callled {Musical Hallucinations}. They were glad to find out that it is not a mental illness or a disease that could cause worse and to plan on living their life differently to cope with the distraction and annoyance, for I have found no cure to this type of MH.
Now with the thinking of there being no cure, what can I give to others to help? My thinking is that with God, all things are possible. If all things, then I can overcome this, not by being able to do what I could if I did not have it, but to do something else and accept the situation. And if I could help others who are thinking of the worst to kill themselves, to sing a new song, to change their attitude about a dibilitating condition even different from mine, then this site's rank is at the top. For you see, I think that there is God within all of us, like a seed, surrounded by the human condition keeping it from florishing, enclosed by it. And by peeling off the layers of humanity, only your God-self would be what is left and you could be in the presence of God. And there is the Rider on a White Horse. Who is this Rider? The Rider is in your heart, for the last thing that I heard from Him was, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."
Lou
