When you log out of this site, a cookie is stored on your computer with information about your visit. If you log back in, and there's no cookie available to verify your last visit, the new indicators are activated.
So, the question is, why is there no cookie? Do you clear your cookies? Is your virus checker/anti-spyware software set too aggressively (and killing the cookie)? Do you shut down your computer properly?
I hope my sleepy head didn't make a mess of the point I was trying to make.
