I've never understood the whole thing. I read somewhere it was a good idea so as to prove email was from you, but I never grasped the concept well enough to use it. What on earth are you supposed to put in a signature line? I always assumed it was an electronic copy of your handwritten signature, but that certainly doesn't fit the instructions.
