I wish I could provide a solid, real answer. my best guess is that the low dose approach might have resulted in an initial mood lift that simmered, over time, as your brain adjusted to the ongoing presence of abilify.

bumping the lamictal probably had/has a strong effect here, too. I didn't realize how powerful lamictal was until my dose was adjusted here and there, and...wow. 200 is my limit, because above that it dampens my mood (but not as badly as trileptal did).

on the plus side...a former psych told me that 200mgs lamictal is his usual minimum for bipolar depression, so maybe the new dosage will be better, over the long haul?
