I wasn't overly activated. With both drugs, I was cognitively blunted and in a foggy, detached state that made me feel like a zombie. In addition to that, I experienced some background anxiety for which I found it necessary to take Ativan to relieve. When these effects were most severe, I found myself trying to vomit on an empty stomach - dry heaves. It happened when I tried to brush my teeth, so I think it was an exaggerated gag reflex. I also experienced bruxism. I couldn't drive. One can interpret these things as being a sort of hyperserotonergic state. A few days after restarting Trintellix at 2.5 mg/day, adverse cognitive effects returned to a mild degree, but have been gradually dissipating. I am guarded in my optimism, but am not wallowing in pessimism. It has been a real struggle that has taken a toll on me. I was not expecting this. Still, I know that switching drugs was logical. It was my impatience that lead me to discontinue Parnate too rapidly. My guess is that doing this sensitized serotonin receptors and led to the hypersensitivity to Trintellix and Effexor.
