hi. sometimes, tranquilizers in general can cause or exacerbate ocd-type problems. its not just abilify. especially as the dose goes up, the 'atypicals' can cause a mix of reduced frontal lobe activity and increased obsessive stuff. ive seen case reports for both zyprexa and clozapine.
with abilify...i think 1 reason they're dealing with legal stuff is because abilify can also be somewhat stimulating, so instead of having increased ocd problems and heavy sedation, there's increased ocd stuff and a bit of activation.
the other problem, which i think is a big problem with abilify, is that its been sprayed on people who probably don't need neuroleptics. if one deals with psychosis, mania, etc., then a neuroleptic makes sense. with widespread prescribing, a lot of people with more moderate problems are experiencing serious adverse effects, and they're running to the nearest law firm (its America, LOL).
