Trilepal (oxcarbazepine) is supposed to reduce the withdrawal effects of alcohol discontinuation. Trileptal is an anticonvulsant used for epilepsy and as a mood stabilizer.

It sounds like alcohol is disinhibiting you (your brain) in some way. This might be why you feel better when you drink it. Disinhibition is common, but it looks different in each person.

Can you describe how you feel when you are depressed?

In what ways does alcohol make you feel better?
