> Sorry that you're not getting the results you hoped for so far. Some people get the 'light switch' effect from Nardil, for others the effect can come on more gradually. How long since you started it?

2 weeks 45mg, 1 week 60mg. I'm suspecting I have low bp and/or low blood sugar. I've lost 20lbs in the last month or so. Zero appetite. Not healthy, I know.

> Perhaps you came off the Klonopin too quick and/or you are experiencing anxiety/stress as a result of stopping?

Probably true. I had a seizure the first time I attempted to d/c'd it.

> Nardil is anxiolitic (GABAergic) so it should help. Maybe adding back a small dose of Klonopin might help. Say 0.5mg thrice daily until the Nardil hopefully kicks in. Just a thought.

> So you were on Zyprexa for your MDD? I'm not too clued up on APs, but I know some of them are used to augment ADs particularly the atypical ones. And some, like Seroquel can even be effective for depression alone. Did Zyprexa help your depression? Or was it used for something else?

It helped with my depression as a monotherapy (along with Klonopin).

> I take it you also suffer with anxiety as you were taking Klonopin right?

Yes.

>
> Bit confused as to why you were not taking an AD if you suffer with MDD.

Tried them all.

>
> Going back to 45mg Nardil might help. What side effects are you dealing with right now?

Anxiety, fatigue, weakness, sweating.

>
> I have actually gone back to 45mg Nardil, up from 30mg which I dropped to because of said side effect. I already feel better after my dose of 22.5mg i took this morning. I also took 7.5mg last night. But surprise surprise the urine retention has come back almost instantly. So I will forget the 7.5mg at night for the time being. Making a total daily dose of only 37.5mg Not exactly ideal, but what else can I do?
>
> I will be asking for bethanocol when I next see my doc in 2 weeks. Wiki says its used for urine retention caused by ADs but there is no reference for it.
> I also found another class of medications (called alpha receptor blockers) that work by relaxing the muscles at the neck of the bladder, thus reducing the obstruction to the flow of urine. The common medications in this class are terazosin (Hytrin), tamsulosin (Flomax), doxazosin (Cardura), silodosin (Rapaflo), and alfuzosin (Uroxatral). These medications are generally used for treating long-standing obstructive symptoms due to enlarged prostate, but they may have a role in treating acute obstruction.

I hope one of the above will help you with your problem! Looks like its the only way you'll be able to increase your Nardil dose.
