Do any pure SSRIs produce mania/psychosis in you?
I have cross-titrated two drugs that have not demonstrated contraindications for mixing. Sometimes, I'll skip the morning dose of the old drug and begin taking the new drug that evening. This is really more of a switch than a cross-titration. With cross titration, you gradully reduce the dosage of the old drug while simultaneously increasing the dosage of the new drug. People will express concern over serotonin syndrome (SS) while taking both drugs. This is an uncommon reaction. However, when MAOIs are involved, SS is a rather common sequalae.
For me, I have chosen both of the following strategies:1. Skip one or two doses of Effexor to discontiue it, and begin taking the Viibryd using a moderate titration schedule. You will feel like crap for a little while. This is more or less a direct switch
or
2. Remain on 37.5 mg/day to 75.0 mg/day of Effexor while titrating the dosage of Viibryd taking kinetic interactions into consideration. Once you reach a therapeutic dosage of Viibryd, you can then taper the Effexor if necessary. The advantages to this is that you might not suffer too badly between drugs, and that you will be effectively testing to see if a combination of Effexor and Viibryd works well for you.
