Just wanted to follow up and say this medication is different than I thought due to the inhibited breakdown. Its effect shouldn't be the same as OTC dextromethorphan (robotussin). My dad just started on it (he's very I'll w dementia). Hard to tell what it's doing for him since he doesnt talk much and declining rapidly.
Just wanted to update that I was incorrect.
Crazy expensive though. He has insurance (saved him $700 something) and it was still $80 for a month supply :-/
