contrave? wellbutrin?

Posted by Christ_empowered on January 10, 2015, at 9:43:39

Biggie gotta lose some weight, lol. Its been a rough couple years until recently, and the weight piled on. I do think the Abilify (30mgs/day) contributed. My other daily meds (1200/Trileptal and 100/Lamictal) seem to have little, if any, effect on my weight.

OK. So, I was reading about Contrave. I don't get it. Kinda scares me. I knew that Wellbutrin was sometimes used to elevate mood and maybe drop a little bit of weight, but...naltrexone? Can't that cause depression?

Which would leave just Wellbutrin, which is probably the direction my (skilled) doc would want to go, anyway. I was concerned that Abilify+Wellbutrin might = TD, twitches, or some other sort of bad problems. Or it might be the best thing ever, considering that my attention span sometimes goes to hell.

I do have a little bit of a problem with agitation. Looking back, I should have stayed on the 20mgs/day Prozac, but I didn't like the start up feeling. Celexa was good to me for about 6 months, and then I felt too tranquilized.

So...yeah...Wellbutrin? Is the XR or whatever really an all day deal? I have low dose (100mgs caps) neurontin and low dose (2mgs tabs) risperidone for as-needed use.

What say you?
