I would think a low(ish) dose of any antipsychotic. Old or new, the choice would be based on how much (if any) sedation you want/need, your weight, other meds, other symptoms, etc.I take Abilify. It certainly helps tranquilize rage. So do anticonvulsants. Trileptal comes to mind; Lamictal, Depakote. These could be used with a tranquilizer, probably with lower doses of the neuroleptic if the problem is mostly rage.
I personally wouldn't want Seroquel because...wow..that stuff is sedating...but maybe the xr is better?
I seem to recall reading something somewhere about high dose buspar, but I could be wrong. Buspar can be added to some antipsychotics to improve mood and anxiety and also tolerability.
