Should I switch to Parnate?

Posted by ddiamondds on April 20, 2014, at 18:38:57

I'm currently on 300 mg of Effexor XR. I'm not really satisfied with it and am convinced I have some emotional blunting. I've been reading up endlessly on Parnate and have become pretty obsessed with it. I'm under the impression (probably a little false) that MAOIs in general are a miracle drug/panacea compared to reuptake inhibitors, and aren't associated with the anhedonia induced by those drugs. The latter is what's really the most important to me; I'm not in an emergency to stop the Effexor, but I'd like to have my wide range of emotions back. I don't experience things with much intensity anymore. I've been on Nardil and I wouldn't mind going back on that again but I'm sorta fixated on Parnate. There is a lack of experience reports online and I guess I'm asking: is it worth it? Coming off Effexor isn't fun and I want it to be
a worthwhile switch.
