What differentiates Schizoaffective disorder from bipolar is that psychotic symptoms are experienced between mood episodes. You basically would experience psychotic symptoms all the time and then have either bipolar type mood episodes or depressive mood episodes.
Don't 'lean' towards no Trileptal. If your Bipolar or Schizoaffective, bipolar type, you need a mood stabilizer or you're going to experience mood swings whether you're on an antipsychotic or not. Being on the Tofranil without a mood stabilizer will like cause further destabilization.
I'm Bipolar I and I can't take an AD without a mood stabilizer.
An elegant solution for you might be to push the Neurontin up to 2400 mg-it can be used as a mood stabilizer at that dose.
