Doxepin or what TCA for insomnia?

Posted by Legm82 on October 23, 2013, at 18:39:35

Hello,
I have Depression, OCD and insomnia diagnosis.
The depression and the OCD are under control with current medication.
However insomnia is NOT. I was taking Mirtazapine 30mg for about 9 years and now it appers to pooped out for sleep.
Now I'm considering switching to a TCA to help with insomnia.
I have tried Amitriptyline 25mg and 50mg with no good results.
I have been told that Doxepin is a much stronger 5HT2A blocker than Mirtazapine or Amitryptiline.
Should I go for Doxepin or maybe another TCA and what dose do you suggest?
Thanks for your help!
