This is from NAMI's website.
Are these any risks for taking Klonopin® for long periods of time?
To date, there are no known problems associated with long term use of clonazepam. It is a safe and effective medication when used as directed. Benzodiazepines may produce emotional and/or physical dependence (addiction) even when used as recommended. Physical dependence may develop after 2 or more weeks of daily use.
One doc on a website said, yes it's for short term but if you need it you need it.Yes 4 weeks would be great and there are people that will say get off of it and maybe with good reason. But a lot of people take it 15-20 years. I was started at 3 mg and another doc went to 1.5. I don't remember tapering or having any problems but it was a while ago.
How people treat you is their karma
How you react is yours.
