Hello Prefect,

I've been taking a citrate form of magnesium at 300-400 mg BID/TID for half a year now and I'm also a +10 year user of the SSRI sertraline.

I haven't had any negative side-effects other than the occassional laxative effect, but I haven't noticed any major positive effect either.

When I feel agitated I feel it calms me down a bit for a brief period though so magnesium may be worth a try for you if you're suffering from anxiety, but don't expect any miracles.

As far as I know it's totally safe to combine an SSRI with magnesium, but it's best not to take both at the same time, since magnesium may slow down or hinder the absorption of the SSRI to a certain extent.
