My guess is that it's probably not a placebo effect.

2 mg is a bit much. Whether you take it is up to you of course, but are you aware that the diazepam/Valium equivalent is supposed to be around 40 mg diazepam ?
This drug can be a lot stronger than it feels.
It also has a long half life, allowing for building tolerance even if you take it just twice a week.
