I think there may be a difference between dogs and most* cats. I am expected to cater to her moods and needs, not the other way around. So of course, being moderately well trained after all these years, I do. And in the end it's probably just as therapeutic in it's own way.
*I know there are some cats who are exceptions. I even had one many years ago who would come to me if I was crying. Or even if I was thinking of it it seemed. This one, sweet as she is? Not a chance.
