You know what, I think it's totally possible no matter what the pdocs say. The meds can get you to a point where you make positive habits, positive thinking, and good life choices for enough time that they become second nature, and then maybe the meds can fall by the wayside. That's my hope for myself one day, anyway. While I do have a biological illness, I have grown into profoundly rigid ways of thinking and depressive habits that also keep me in bad places. I would like to see if the right med combo helps me work on those things enough to where I can reduce or even eliminate meds.
That said, I'm not looking to do it anytime soon. Remission is precious. Don't want to mess with it.
