It's amazing I didn't choke on my own vomit while on Xyrem. I was on it for two weeks until I vomitted and had severe dysphoria one night.
I mentioned it to my roomies, and they sad I was vomitting every night for the past two weeks. Turns out, they were right. In addition to causing vomitting, it also causes retrograde amnesia, so you can vomit and not even know about it.
As far as taking it in the day time (while awake): don't. You'll be incoherent and scare girls like crazy. I once woke up to a fire alarm while on the stuff, and was incredibly euphoric, with a smile illegal in every town. I got troubled looks from girls outside of my dorm room. Your doc is doing you no favors with the xanax, either. It works no better than klonopin, only withdrawal is impossible, even with a slow taper. Quit both. Also, combining xanax with xyrem will kill you. Even without the xanax, you'll still choke on your own vomit in your sleep, scare girls with incoherent speech, and with any alcohol added to the mix, die in your sleep for sure.
