Everyone has a strong motivation to become more independent of their parents, and to fulfill their destiny, in work, in love, in forming their own families, in finding their own special interests and joys. This is true of every form of life, from insects to mammals, except that it gets much richer and more complex for humans. It is so important that people are willing to undergo a lot of anxiety, and risk a lot of failure (all those dates that didn't work out!), in order to achieve it. Now, it seems as though your pdoc still has these goals for you, but you are no longer saying that you have them yourself.

I can remember some of the posts you wrote when you first began; you were extremely interested in learning new things, and had a special interest in astronomy. You were, and are, extremely bright, and a person who would naturally have gone to graduate school.

Something happened to your motivation. Because SSRIs are known to cause "a-motivational syndrome", they are most likely the cause. It's wonderful that you have overcome your anxiety and depression, but why are you still taking TWO SSRIs? ( most everyone takes only one, even when severely depressed).

If you were not spending almost all of your free day-time hours sleeping, you would probably be going out occasionally to meet with friends, perhaps learning to drive a car, helping around the house ( no-one likes that, but we all do it), exploring your intellectual interests further through classes or clubs, and perhaps checking out the dating scene. You have accomplished a tremendous amount in overcoming the anxiety and depression you had. You deserve all the joys and sorrows of an engaged life, which you are now able to have.

Why not see who you really are without the SSRIs?
