Yeah me too. I knew the Herx was coming. It showed up a day late and milder than expected, which is fine with me. Still doing fairly ok but herx's do suck. I got a glimpse of what it's like on the other side of disease and I want that.

Scott I think you would be interested in the stuff Dr Donta of Boston General Hospital writes about. Try googling his name somtime if you're bored and just looking for something different to read about. Quite fascinating and scientific how they approach different antibiotics for different purposes He is a leading authority on infectious disease. Most of which is a gray area. So they discover what works by trial and error in the real world.

Anyway according to him and other doctors who have accidentally become experts through hard knocks, 200mg is not enough to get through the blood brain barrier and it is not enough to be bacterialcidal. At 400mg it becomes deadly to pathogens rather than simple suppressive, and somewhere in the 400mg to 500mg range it can cross the blood brain barrier. The goal is actually 600mg and the timeframe is in months.

Dr Donta sees those doses in real practice being as or more effective than I.V antibiotics, and being effective when there were previous failures with the same drug. If there is neurolyme high doses are required and usually longer periods of treatment times than might be anticipated.

Anyway that's why the high dose. It has killing power and it gets in the brain.

One does not have to have an infection in order for doxycycline to yield positive results. It is a common observation that people who suffer from depression exhibit increased inflammatory processes in the brain.
