The noticeable ones to me (as someone with unipolar depression) are speaking very fast, speaking inappropriately, strange conversations that go all over the place and are like a never-ending monologue, increased self-absorption and being very animated. Additionally, although she is confined to a wheelchair due to unsteadiness, she will refuse to stay in her wheelchair and will keep getting up and moving around. She self-describes is as being manic/hypomanic; nurses and people with bipolar disorder seem to pick up on it quickly.
