TCAs and emotional blunting

Posted by orbital on November 28, 2011, at 12:46:23

Hi all :-)

I'm wondering if anybody has experience with TCAs, specifically I'd like to know if they cause the infamous SSRIs/SNRIs emotional blunting (at least that's my experience, I eventually get the "blashs" on all of them).

The list of meds I'm taking right now is so long I can barely remember it. Some of them: Effexor, Zoloft, Provigil, Abilify, amisulpiride (low dose) and others, along with benzos and supplements. I feel okay and energetic, but certainly not happy -nor sad for that matter.

I'm wondering if I should ask my doc to wash out for a week, then try a TCA (imipramine). I've never been on a TCA, and only Elavil and imipramine are available where I live due to lack of sales.

Any thoughts? As usual thanks in advance.
