This Memantine/stimulant tolerance thing

Posted by Zonked on September 11, 2011, at 16:01:30

On another forum, people seem to be using Memantine to remedy tolerance to stimulants. I often neglect to mention my ADD because depression feels so much worse... the only reason I don't add Dexedrine to my regimen is that I become tolerant to a given dose within two to three weeks. Is there academic literature that supports use of Memantine for this purpose? I can't take Strattera because norandrenergic meds make me bonkers with anxiety. I also wanted to know if anyone has successfully managed ADD inattentive without meds since I may have no choice. ADD has been a lifelong problem for me, depression only in adulthood. I miss the relief Dex provides, but do not miss it feeling like a water pill within weeks. Thx. Z
