I doubt it will help your depression.

It will most likely be a milder version of Lyrica, though reports vary.

But it would help you lie still in bed if awake and improve sleep if that is what is happening, and that is important.

I'm quite sure it would be very useful for opiate and benzo withdrawal. You know that crawly grossly uncomfortable state? I guess a gabapentin withdrawal is like that.
