Getting back to sleep after waking early

Posted by pedr on September 2, 2011, at 16:44:09

Hi,
I am taking Nardil+Abilify and am waking up from sleep earlier and earlier. It's reached 3a.m. now and I'm slowly going insane (perhaps literally) from the erratic sleep patterns. I take 1 ambien (I think 5mg) before bed, say 10pm and that helps me drop off. However if I take 2 pills, I am guaranteed to have the most vivid, terrifying nightmares so I tend not to want to have 2 pills.

So when I awake at 3 or 4a.m. should I take another pill? I suspect that I'll feel like a zombie-with-a-hangover if I do that the following day though.

Any advice appreciated. BTW benzo-based sleep aids, Melatonin and Trazodone aren't effective for me. The Abilify laughs right in their faces 8o}

thanks,
Pedr
