ANOTHER equivalents question.

Posted by Kizzie on July 25, 2011, at 4:54:38

Hi - people have been very helpful to me re this issue in the past and i just wondered if you could offer some further advice.

I have been on various ad's for the last 12 years - but have actually been trying to withdraw for 9 or 10 of those years (!)

At the moment I am on 35mg of clomipramine/anafranil and trying to work out the ssri (prozac/seroxat) equivalent.

In the past people on this board told me that 50mg of cloimpramine is equal to approx 20mg of prozac/seroxat but they also explained that the 'serotonin re-uptake' part of clomipramine is more effective at different doses.

Does this mean that you cant do a straight maths equation on it. So eg. for 25mg clomipramine you cant just half 20mg to make 10mg because the serotonin element may reduce more rapidly the lower your dose.

I hope this makes sense. Aplogies for not using all the correct phrasing.

Thanks for any help!
