Lamictal kicked in pretty quickly for me. My doctor put me on it after an episode of cutting which was very uncharacteristic of me. Things settled in fast and I've been on it for five years.
Look out for the rash if your doctor didn't warn you. It's rare but can be a serious side.
I readjusted my dose last year and got a little lift. I take 150mg daily which is low from what I hear but not necessarily when used with other drugs.
