Sadly, a lot of doctors and pharmacists take the soft option of saying that everything is contraindicated with MAOI's without specialist advice, including ibuprofen, Tums and Milk of Magensia.
Ask the reason for the contraindication, the nature of the reaction, and see what answer you get.
