I wouldn't recommend ECT unless you find yourself absolutely unable to function. The potential side effects are severe, the treatment itself is costly, and if does "reboot" the brain, its probably a short-term benefit (when used in depression, relapse rates are high; that's why many people are maintained on multiple psychiatric medications after ECT).
