Another approach would be to switch to diazepam immediately. You could just take as much diazepam as you need to relieve any withdrawal symptoms. You don't really need to ration out the diazepam, because it builds up in your body and takes a really long time to leave.
Not speaking from personal withdrawal experience, mainly theory. But it should work.
