Great you found out about Lamictal when you did.Sounds like a sulphur reaction,meds like xonegran,lamictal,and even depakote have this issue,even internal.
As far as repalcing it,lamictal is a mood stablizer not a anti depressant,most dont do well on a mood stablizer alone.
If i were a doc,and im not,id try s good ned antidepressant like PRIQITQ which most here do fair on,replace your mood stablizer with Nuerontion a med alone useless but with a antidepressant seems to help a lot,its extremly safe,and id add a low dose benzo like ativan.
