Yeah, Neulactil has been around for a long time. It's chemically quite similar to chlorpromazine (Largactil, Thorazine) and the now discontinued thioridazine (Melleril).
What exactly is your GP trying to achieve with this neuroleptic? Neulactil is very rarely prescribed. It's not something which would normally be initiated by a GP. Initiation of Neulactil for depression and flat affect sounds like an exceptionally strange choice. I would seriously question whether your GP is familar with this drug or whether he just selected it at random out of a textbook (or off his computer).
Neulactil and similar drugs are frequently associated with weight gain, which can be severe. There is also a risk of extrapyramidal side effects, including tardive dyskinesia.
