Brain chemistry can change over time. When I am just stressed out (high anxiety), caffiene is not good, but in the past 5 years anxiety has not been my major problem.
In the past 5 years, I've been calm, but just depressed. The caffiene in moderation seems to help ofset, to some extent, my dark moods. It seems to reduce the strong emotional resonance of being depressed, self loathing, feelings of guilt, lonliness, etc.
