Petr makes a good point. If you are confident you know what you are doing and just need your doctor for her prescription pad, go ahead.
Personally, I like my doctors to be smarter/have more expertise than me. I know online sources can be very helpful and provide a ton of useful information. But I'm still not a doctor who has years of experience and training, who can maybe understand things and see connections that I can't and has access to resources that I don't. If they aren't familiar with many drugs, fine. But if they aren't then willing to do the research to add to their knowledge and help me, I question their motives for being a doctor in the first place.
