Considering how long you've been on effexor, and that it is helping in certain ways, it would probably be rocking the boat too much to think about stopping it. The withdrawals would be hell and longlasting, just for starters.

Five ideas. I thought of a bunch of different meds, but these were the ones I felt had the most potential to fit your particular story. Any of these would not replace effexor, but would be added to it.

Remeron
Nortriptyline
Zyprexa
Low dose Lexapro
LDN

Some ideas to work with. I think doing a complete switch away from effexor after a decade on it is just too risky at this point.
