Spironolactone is successfully used for PMT and dysphoria related. There is also a small study where Spiro is used to treat Manic Depression and is as useful as lithium. Spiro can be used as a hormonal treatment, I use it for alopecia, it works to increase oestrogen. I came off it cold turkey once and had a major period and spectacular mood crash - crying continually and slightly psychotic.
